Meet the Talent
Matthew Kollar | Creative Director
Hailing from the world of practical effects and monster building,
Matthew uses his extensive knowledge of Horror and Fantasy in his
filmmaking to create a unique visual blend of the beautiful and the
grotesque. Kollar is driven to continue to bring Horror forward,
making it socially relevant, exciting, and original. And of course,
gory as hell.
Matthew began his career composing the original score for Bobcat
Goldthwait’s now cult hit “God Bless America,” which premiered at TIFF and SXSW, earning solid reviews for the music and a collaboration with Goldthwait that would extend through his follow up feature film,“Willow Creek”. His lifelong passion for Practical Effects led him to become a Visual Effects Producer at Encirco Studios, working with renowned studios like The Jim Henson Company, South Park Studios, and Universal Studios.
While directing a regional theatre play, which featured MUCH MORE fake blood than any theatrical production should have a right to, Matthew was scouted and hired by Netflix to redefine English Dubbing for their international content.
Over the next three years, he collaborated with executives,
filmmakers, actors, and show runners to ensure the creative vision in
projects like “Money Heist,” “Lupin,” and the Academy Award-nominated films, “I Lost My Body” and “Society of the Snow” was accurately conveyed through the English voice acting. This resulted in huge financial success for Netflix, and laid the foundation for a new Post-Production workflow in Los Angeles. The work earned Kollar a New York Times featured article, and also a BAFTA membership for his contribution to International Film.
Matthew continues to create award nominated films and screenplays that are inspired by traditional horror and fantasy films, but seek to
bring the genre and tropes forward with diverse and unique casting,
and thoughtful, insightful storytelling. And also, a lot of fake
blood. Did I mention that?
